Adventures of the balcony of GLA
We have decided to follow our very popular And Life In Haiti Goes On, and Kidz Korner blogs with a new addition! In this blog, volunteers working with children from the main house will share stories and news from their days on the balcony. There is a saying that it takes a village to raise a child and this is true at GLA also! Our nannies provide day to day care of the children. They bath them, feed them, and love them. About 12 years ago, we realized that we could enrich the children's lives even more if we had foreign volunteers to come in and work with the children. So, we started our volunteer program. The volunteers work daily for one hour with the children one by one. This means that hopefully, each child will get an hour per day with their volunteer outside of the nursery.The nannies and volunteers help make the children's lives as fulfilled and well rounded as we can possibly make them in an orphanage setting.
